Privacy & Submissions
Cambridge Turkey Watch is an independent, noncommercial community sightings map. It is not affiliated with the City of Cambridge or MassWildlife. Reports on this website do not notify animal control or emergency services.
What becomes public
Each submitted sighting's approximate location, observation time, location type, reported mood, turkey count, and field notes are published automatically after automated checks. Field notes are not individually reviewed before publication. Please do not include names, house numbers, descriptions of identifiable people, or private residential details.
Public coordinates are rounded to four decimal places, approximately 8โ11 meters of resolution in Cambridge. This does not guarantee anonymity or prevent someone from identifying a building. Original precise coordinates are stored in the protected database.
Photographs
Uploaded images are held privately until an administrator reviews and approves them. Approved photos may appear in the sighting details and Hall of Plumage. By submitting a photo, you confirm you have the right to share it and grant Cambridge Turkey Watch permission to display it on this website; you retain your copyright. Avoid recognizable faces, license plates, and private addresses. Photos that are publicly displayed may be saved by others.
Cookies, verification, and analytics
Hall of Plumage votes use a signed browser-specific cookie, retained for up to one year, to remember votes for individual photographs. Clearing cookies or switching browsers may permit another vote. Cloudflare Turnstile and rate limiting help prevent spam and may process device, browser, and network information. Cloudflare Web Analytics measures site use without analytics cookies. Connection and service logs may be handled by the site's infrastructure providers.
Locate Me
If you choose Locate Me and permit location access, your device's position is used in the browser to indicate your approximate position on the map. Using Locate Me by itself does not submit your location to the reporting API or save it as a sighting. If you then choose Report a turkey here, your device's reported position is copied into a sighting draft; it is sent and stored only if you submit that report. You can instead tap a different map location when the turkey is elsewhere. Submitted locations follow the coordinate-storage and public-rounding policy described above.
Contact information, corrections, and removal
The optional email address you supply through the Contact the Flock Keeper form is sent privately to the site administrator using Resend; it is not published with sightings. Please avoid submitting sensitive personal information in messages.
If you would like a sighting, field note, or photograph corrected or removed, use Contact the Flock Keeper. Include enough information to identify the report, but avoid sharing unnecessary private details. Information may remain available until corrected or removed; publicly shared content can also have been copied by other parties.
